Why did I want to do this?

The thought of going into the studio with nothing prearranged and pressing record has always been an intriguing and thrilling idea to me. To be completely free and raw for the listener is something of a rather daunting challenge. Many have done it to varying degrees of success.

Recording process

These 3 volumes are a testament to that fact. A chance for me to reflect and see who I am as a pianist could create in a 4-hour recording window on a cold Sunday in November (2020). The process was simple - go into Peter's studio, press record, and leave with whatever I got. The result was three 40-45mins takes.

Editing process

I was happy with the session but it wasn’t until 4 months later that I actually sat down and listened to the whole session. Upon hearing it, I started to hear different suites emerge within the takes. From there I began to make timestamps where I heard a full start and end to an idea. I loved the idea of taking something so raw + free and then cutting and shaping it to my desire.
